The Côte d'Azur/French Riviera and Monaco are known worldwide for an abundance of glitz and glam with New Year’s Eve being no exception.
Throughout the area, no matter how big or small the location, several activities, nightclubs, and parties will be underway, with every place celebrating in its unique or more traditional manner.
Let's start with Monaco. This year the Principality of Monaco is doing something a little different. Monaco City Hally will be hosting a New Year’s Eve party in the Christmas Village on Port Hercule starting at 9 pm on December 31st.
In attendance will be two DJs who will set the tone with dance club-themed music until 2 am the next morning.
Instead
of fireworks, the highlight of the night will be a spectacular display
of lighted fountains lasting 20 minutes at the stroke of 12 at the Stade
Nautique Rainier III swimming pool as the countdown for the New Year.
All is presented in collaboration with the Prince Rainier III
Commemoration Committee.
Saint Tropez is
normally quieter this time of year but the locals are still in a festive
mood with the community gathering along long tables that are set up
along the port at the waterfront for ‘Grande Anchoïade’, which is an
anchovy dip served with crusty bread and aperitif.
Once evening arrives, everyone at the port can take in the fireworks at midnight.
Cannes is known for putting on one of the best fireworks displays in the region and this New Year will be no exception with the best spot to take in all the activities being along the waterfront at the Boulevard de la Croisette, so be sure to arrive early to take in the light show at midnight.
Nice is the hub for almost any big event in the region and traditionally for the New Year people gather at the beach along the stretch of the Promenade des Anglais to take in the midnight fireworks. Also this year, next to the Christmas Market at Place Massena will be a large outdoor dance party open to all.
Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve everyone and all the best for 2024!
